Goal

Help you connect with candidates by video call during a virtual Withe fair, using a simple queue and one-click in-browser calls.

When to use this

  • You are participating in a virtual fair, powered by Withe

How it works

Candidates join your booth queue from the fair page. You pick who to meet next. When you connect, Withe opens a quick “call prep” screen, then starts an in-browser video call. You can take notes and review the candidate when the call is complete.

Step-by-step

1) Open the virtual fair

  1. Sign in to Withe.
  2. Open the fair you are attending (virtual fairs have the CTA: View virtual fair).
  3. Go to Your booth.
Your fairs: Choose the fair you’re attending to access your booth.
Fair overview: See key fair details and open your booth.

2) Watch your queue

  1. In your booth view, look for Participants in queue.
  2. When candidates click Join queue, they will appear here.
Your booth dashboard: View your queue and manage connections during the fair.

3) Start a video call

  1. In Participants in queue, select the candidate you want to meet.
  2. Click Connect.
Candidate in queue: Select a participant and click Connect to start a video call.

4) Prepare for the call

  1. You will see a pre-call screen to confirm:
    • Camera
    • Microphone
    • Speakers
  2. When you are ready, click Join.
Pre-call check: Confirm your camera, microphone, and speakers, then click Join.

5) During the call

In the video call, you can:

  • Mute and unmute
  • Turn camera on or off
  • Use chat
  • Share your screen
In-browser video call: Use mute, camera, chat, and screen share while meeting the candidate.

6) End the call

When the call ends (either side can end it), you will be taken to a wrap-up screen where you can:

  • Rejoin (if you left by accident)
  • Note if the candidate did not show up
  • Leave a review and add notes for your team
Call ended: Rejoin if needed, or close the room and continue with your next candidate.

7) Review the candidate

Review your connection: Add a rating and notes for your team (only visible to your organization).

Troubleshooting

“No one is in my queue”

  • Confirm the fair has started and your booth is open.
  • Candidates must click Join queue to appear in your queue.
  • If the fair just started, give it a moment and refresh your booth page.

“The call failed to connect”

  • Click Rejoin to try again.
  • Check your internet connection.
  • Confirm your browser has permission to use your camera and microphone.
  • If you are on a corporate network, a firewall or VPN may block video calls. Try switching networks if possible.

“I can’t hear the candidate (or they can’t hear me)”

  • On the pre-call screen, confirm the correct microphone and speakers are selected.
  • Make sure your mic is not muted in the call controls.
  • Close other apps that may be using your microphone (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet).

“My camera isn’t working”

  • Allow camera access when your browser asks.
  • Close any other app using your camera.
  • Refresh the page and reconnect.

“The candidate didn’t join”

  • Wait a moment. Some candidates take a few seconds to click Join on the pre-call screen.
  • If they never join, you can mark it as a no-show and move on to the next candidate.

Tips for a smooth virtual booth

  • Keep your booth page open so you can see new candidates enter the queue.
  • Join the call from a laptop or desktop for the best experience.
  • Use headphones to reduce echo and improve audio quality.
